Super Stripe Crosses

Posted on 2011-12-15 17:20:54

I was very lucky this year to hatch several different super stripe crosses.  Here is a picture of of a fader super pastel super stripe.  I hatched two type of these snakes.  I hatched one with more pattern and another one with less.  They are both very striking looking.  Now let me get into all this fader stuff.  Last year I hatched some really funky pastel super stripes.  They were very extreme.  I decided to separate out the breedings this year so I knew which male was breeding which females.  This meant I didn't back up any of these males.  I have two very different pastel ivories that I purchased back in the day from two different well known breeders.  It turns out one of my pastel ivories was able to reproduce these crazy animals.  I compared some pictures and the pastel ivory looks like some of the highlighter gene animals.  I compared some of the pastel yellow bellies and super pastel yellow bellies and they looked like faders.  Now I am not convinced that all the different highlighter genes like the epic, super duper, citrus whiteout, fader and so on aren't either related or the same.  Also I haven't been able to compare to the other highlighter genes as much as the fader.  So there is the really boring history.  Here is a picture of a fader pastel super stripe.  They look totally different from a normal pastel super stripe.

I did also produce a cinnamon super stripe and pewter super stripe.  They really turned out a lotnicer than I thought.  I was really nervous about this outcome because some of the cinnamon crosses just don't look very good.  These turned out the exact cinny_ss.jpgopposite what I thought.  The pewter super stripe is actually very pink and purplish.  We will see what he looks like as he gets older but I am very happy with how he turned out.  It is kind of odd that two of my more favorite hatchlings this year happen to be the cinnamon super stripe and cinnamon tiger.  The cinnamon stuper stripe has more like a cream color for the sides and the stripe is very cream in color.  They both turned out very well and I think are very good examples of what super stripe crosses can look like.

Back in the mix

It has been awhile since I have updated everyone in regards to what is going on.  I was really late this tigerxspecter.jpgyear in the egg production.  At one point I didn't know if I would have any animals and then I got inundated with clutches.  That in turn caused me to get busy and then get behind on the website.  Anyway enough with the excuses.  I did take pictures over the past months so I will use this time to go back and post those pictures and updates.

Here is an exciting breeding that I had.  I do have a clutch on the ground from this pairing.  I think it will be really interesting to see what a tiger specter looks like.  I was lucky to produce some new super stripe clutches this year.  This is the start of a long project.  The hope is to produce a tiger specter male but of course there isn't a high chance to produce that.  We'll see what happens.  I would have bred him to super stripe but he was young so I put him on some females that were going to go late.  This clutch will be hatching in January so when I say late I mean real late.

Here is a picture of a tiger breeding a pastel.  He was a really small male but he got going toward the end.  I was lucky enoug to produce a pastel tiger and some tigers from this clutch.  The pastel tiger is a lot nicer than I thought .  They have a really nice patterned head and the color is just outstanding.  Here is a picture of one of the pastel tigers I produced.  The tiger crosses are really nice.  It is really unfortunate about the female deserts not producing or at least not producing reliably.  I did produce a cinnamon tiger as well.  The cinnamons I produce seems to grow really well.  I hatched a cinnamon yellow belly last year that is already 2500 grams so I am going to try and raise this female cinnamon tiger and try to dispell some of the myth around desert females.   I don't know if I will be successful but if I'm not at least I will have a really nice snake to look at.  She really turned out a lot nicer than I thought.  She is really bright orange and getting more orange as she grows.  I really did this breeding as an after thought but it turned out to be one of my more exciting clutches of the year.

More Super Stripe Stuff

svyb-x-ss(1).jpgI have been trying to breed different gene's into the super stripes.  To the left is a super vanilla yellow belly breeding a super stripe.  This will produce vanilla specters, vanilla super stripes, vanilla ivories, and vanilla yellow bellies.  I am more interested in the super vanilla super stripe but you have to start somewhere.

eg x ss.jpgMy enchi ghost has been breeding really well.  He is one of those snakes that gets picky eating when breeding but I'll take it.  here he is breeding a super stripe.  This will produce enchi specters het ghost, enchi yellow bellies het ghost, yellow bellies het ghost, and specters het ghost.  I love the enchi gene.  I think of it just like the vanilla.  It really enhances the other combos.  You can't go wrong adding enchi.

Here to the left is a spectershg-x-pastGhost.jpg het ghost breeding a pastel ghost female.  This will produce specter het ghosts, pastel specter het ghosts, pastel het ghosts,  and pastel specter het ghosts.  This is one of the those clutches that you need to create those big combos like pastel ghost super stripes.

pi_bbspect.jpgTo the right is a pastel ivory breeding a bumblebee specter.  I bought this male as a super pastel ivory and it turned out not to be.  He really looks different and I think he is a pastel fader ivory.  He has the look and produces some crazy animals.  This breeding will produce super pastel super stripes, pastel super stripes, bumblebee super stripes, killer bee super stripes, super stripes, and spider super stripes.  Now that's a lot of possibilities.

pSpec x SS.jpg Here to the left is a pewter specter breeding a super stripe.  Now I get the question all the time if I have produced a super specter.  I did breed a super stripe to a super stripe and produced four super stripes and two ivories.  Nothing spectacular came out of that.  Actually this female was from that breeding.  I am doing a couple of these breeding this year so we'll spi-x-pSpec.jpgee if I can produce a super.  It isn't really a high percentage that I will produce one.  It's only a twenty five percent chance but you never know.

To the right is a paste ivory breeding a pastel spector.  This is again the male that looks like a pastel fader ivory.  Look at how white his head is.  It is almost like a lucy's head.  This will produce super stripes, pastel super stripes, super pastel super stripes, pastel yellow bellies, and super pastel yellow bellies.

More Vanilla Stuff

It's been a little while since I posted some stuff on here.  I have been so busy with everything going on.  I wanted to update some of the breeding I h

ave going on.  I really like the vanilla gene so I am breeding it into quite a few things.  I really think it's a good filler gene.  On the left is a super vanilla yellow belly breeding a lesser enchi.

I am also breeding vanilla lesser into lesser enchi.  I like lesser enchi's by themselves.  I think a vanilla lesser enchi will be very nice so we'll see.  My vanilla lesser is a beast and has been breeding really well so I am hoping he throws some nice babies.  The vanilla lesser really get nicer with age.  When he was a baby he was nice but not too crazy looking.  Over time he has really lightened up and added lots of yellow.

More breeding

Well it's been a hectic several months and breeding is now in full swing.  Here are some quick shots of some pairings I am pretty excited about.  Here is is a picture of a super vanilla yellow belly breeding a lesser enchi female.  I was debating whether I should breed her to something with enchi in it.  My tiger male isn't quite ready yet and I didn't want to breed her to my enchi ghost or a normal enchi.  I think this combo may be really nice.  Could be a vanilla lesser enchi yellow belly.  I think quite a few of the offspring from this clutch could be pretty cool looking.

Here is a special breeding a mojave.  This has the potential of producing crystals or crystal mojaves.  I would also like to breed him to a lesser and produce some crystal lessers.  I think the crystal project is relatively new so I am pretty excited to have some breeding going on with this pairing.

Sterling Super Stripes

Posted on 2011-04-02 22:41:00

Here is the hope to produce some silver streak super stripes.  This is a pewter specter breeding a super pastel yellow belly female.  A couple of years ago I produced some super pastel yellow bellies and I also picked some up.  Super pastel yellow bellies by themselves are very nice.  This breeding hopefully will produce pastel super stripes, pewter super stripes, cinnamon super stripes, silver streak super stripes, and some other good stuff.  Hopefully this breeding will end up a successful one.

Vanilla Lesser Enchi Fire?

Posted on 2010-11-30 22:58:52

I wish!!  I have an itsy bitsy teenie weenie chance of producing this.  The vanilla crosses are really nice.  I am so suprised that such a suttle morph can make everything look so nice.

Notice how dirty the paper is.  That paper was vanillalesser_fireEnchi2.jpgcompletely clean when I put them in there.  This is one of the reasons I switched from aspen to paper.  I just felt that I couldn't clean well enough just spot cleaning.  That is one of the many reasons I changed.  I first started with paper towels and now I switched to kraft paper.  I am lucky enough to live close to a uline so it is easy to pick it up pretty cheap.  Ok off my little rant.  I think this breeding can only yield nice animals.  Vanilla lesser, lesser enchi, vanilla enchi, vanilla lesser, vanilla fire, fire enchi, vanilla lesser fire, etc.....  So I am hoping I produce something....knock on wood.  The fire enchi is a young female so I am hoping she goes.  She went of feed so I started breeding her.  She has started eating again.

enchiGhost_breed2.jpgHere are some pictures of my enchi ghost breeding.  He is a feistenchiGhost_breed1.jpgy little guy but I was lucky to produce some nice enchi ghosts and enchi ghost crosses.  He really has aged well and looks really nice.  I just love enchi crosses.  I wish I would have jumped on that bandwagon earlier.  He was only a six month old animal and he really bred well.  I got several clutches out of him.  I am hoping he continues with his stellar breeding.

Cinnamon Specters?

Posted on 2010-11-28 11:12:04

SS_breed1.jpgThis is a super stripe breeding a female cinnamon.  I was lucky enough to produce  cinn_specter_male1.jpgsome cinnamon specters and cinnamon yb's.  The cinny specter show here is a really nice example of what the cross looks like.  It is really easy to tell the difference between the cinnamon yb's and the cinnamon specters.

Pastel Specters??

Posted on 2010-11-28 11:00:36

SS_breed3.jpgHere is a picture of a super stripe breeding a pastel female.  Unfortunately in this clutch I only hatched pastel yellow bellies.  You can't win them all.

Caramel Speckled

Posted on 2010-11-28 10:58:28

caramel_breed1.jpgI know people are really down on the caramels and I am somewhat skeptical as well.  I am still going to work the projects since caramels are such a pretty snake.  Here is a picture of a carmel breeding a speckled female.  My hopes are to produce a caramel super speckled one day.  That is an empty water bowl by the way.  I use deli cups but remove the water when breeding.

Pewter Yellow Bellies

Posted on 2010-11-28 12:10:32

I have been reallSilverStreak_breed1.jpgy backed up trying to get this site up and going.  I am going to post some of ybGhost_breeding.jpgthe cool breedings I had last breeding season and then start off with this breeding season.  It's amazing everything breeding season is already here.

Here is a picture of silver streak breeding a yellow belly.  I was lucky to produce quite a few pewter yellow bellies.  I really think you can't have enough yellow belly combos.

This is a yellow belly ghost breeding a ghost.  I produced some specter het ghosts last year with the hopes of producing some ghost super stripes.  This breeding will hopefully produce ghost yellow bellies.

SPI_breed1.jpg

This is a picture of a super pastel ivory breeding a specter female.  This will hopefully produce some pastel super stripes.  The super pastel ivory is a very hard snake to take a picture of.  It has a lot of yellow flecking throughout the body and head which makes it different from a pastel ivory.

LA_breed2.jpgI am also trying to breed lavender albino into my speckled project.  Here is a lavender albino breeding a super speckled ball python.  The super speckled is a the super of a snake I imported back in the day.  The speckled ball is a very subtle morph but the super turned out to be really crazy.  I think the lavender super speckled ball will be really nice.

Lavender Super Stripe

LA_breed1.jpg

Here is another project I am trying to get the lavender albino into.  This combination would produce specters and yellow bellies.  All being het for lavender albino.  I think the diferent combinations.  Eventually down the rode I think a lavender albino ivory and a lavender albino super stripe would be two really nice combinations.  Hopefully everything goes well with this combination.
